Description
Doroksh rugs originate from the hills of the Khorasan province in northeastern Iran and are known colloquially as ‘the decorator’s carpet’. They are the result of an intentional late 19th century revival of a 16th century tradition. These high-quality, large scale rugs intentionally drew upon intricate 16th century designs, woven in large sizes and with intent for sale to the great capitals of the region (and later, to the west). Doroksh rugs feature a range of styles, including ornate arabesque medallions, a multitude of outer borders, and smaller-scale all-over fields with boteh (droplet) or herati (water garden) designs. Common primary colors include creams, reds, and rich berry tones. This rug has been treated with an antique wash, softening its tones to appeal to the palette of any modern-day home. Pattern, color variation, and signs of wear with vintage items is normal. If you have specific questions about wear or colors, email hello[at]passerinehome[dot]com or call us to discuss this rug in more detail.
We recommend using rug pads to extend the life of all Passerine rugs. Add a custom-sized rug pad to your order using order add-on the drop down above.
